Scholarship honors father, family’s shared military connection
Colonel Larry McGaughy Mims, (wife) Laverne Wilson Mims, and (son) Judge Kelly Mims.
A new scholarship endowment has been created in Mississippi State University’s Center for America’s Veterans by Bulldog alumnus and Circuit Court Judge Kelly Mims. Established in memory of his late father, Colonel Larry M. Mims, the award will benefit students who share the Mims family’s strong military connection.

Mississippi State University proudly welcomed current and former servicemen and women and the campus community to a ceremony celebrating the unveiling of the newly installed World War II memorial. MSU President Mark E. Keenum said the monument dedication is one way for the university to say “thank you” to veterans and all who have served.
